Owner Head Coach Jeff Schneider has returned to the Gold Coast after 3 years of touring with Japanese ATP player Taiyo Yamanaka. During this time Taiyo has played over 50 claycourt tournaments world wide and established himself in the top 1000 of ATP players on the grueling WTT circuit. It has been a great experience to compete against the best WTT players in Tunisia, Turkey, Balkans & Europe. We have covered alot of mile together and Taiyo is in a great position to become a very successful ATP professional. We wish him lots of luck going forward and thank him for the choosing Activa Tennis & head coach Jeff Schneider to help steer him thru the difficult transition of talent junior to ATP Pro.
HISTORY OF THE ACADEMY 2016-2020 Over the past 4 years we have had amazing results stamping us out as one of the finest elite programs on the Gold Coast. We have produced numerous Qld Junior Champions, Qld Showdown junior entrants & Qld Team Reps, a National Junior champion, several top 100 Aust ranked players along with Australian Team Reps (junior Fed Cup) ITF International junior entrants into Grand Slam junior events at the Australian and US Open. We have taken players along some amazing journeys from Oz 700-800 rankings up to top 100 and under. We are extremely proud to have helped these players along their journey but it is now time to take a very talented player along the ultimate journey to become an ATP tour top 100 ranked player. As we will no longer be offerring lessons at Sanctuary Cove we recommend our students to look elsewhere to continue their journey as we were the only officially fully recognised Tennis Australia coaches at Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club and the only academy with an elite junior/adult program.
2020 Turkey ITF M15 Tournaments. Taiyo had a very impressive 7 weeks on the clay in Antalya TURKEY with wins over ATP 600s 800s and 900s ranked players along with reaching the semi finals of the doubles in one of the tournaments. His ATP world singles ranking improved by about 400 places on the ATP Mens rankings which was a great result on clay (not his fav) in some pretty wet and heavy conditions that suited the Europeans on many occasions thats for sure! Since returning from Turkey we have been hit by the covid-19 pandemic and have brought forward a training block that we had planned for later in the year and moved it to Japan. At the end of this training block Taiyo showed what he is capable of by going so close to defeating (2 matches pts) top 100 ATP player Taro Daniel at the "beat covid-19 tournament in Japan." After another training block on clay at our sister academy in Spain Tennis Academy Mallorca, Taiyo returned to the ITF Mens Tour in Sept. Some great results followed over the next 3 months including a win over Russian ATP Player Nedelko ranked 320 ATP Taiyo's bigest scalp on any surface but notabley on clay! We have just had a short break in Japan for a month and are now back on the Men's Tour for 2021. Lets hope Covid-19 doesn't ruin another year of tournaments! Fingers crossed the vaccines will make International travel available to all again soon...
Also congrats to Olivia Gadecki at the 2021 Summer of tennis with some outstanding results. Winning a round of qualifying in the Womens draw and winning her first WTA maindraw doubles match at the Australian Open. Followed by the biggest win of her career so far defeating Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin (WTA #4) at the Philip Island Trophy event at Melb Park. Head coach Jeff Schneider worked with Olivia in 2016 and 2018 is extremely pleased to see her passion for tennis returning after a few set backs over the last couple of years. As luck would have it Jeff bumped into Olivia on tour in Turkey May 2021 where she was adjusting to the European ITF circuit. Since then she has won 2 singles titles, several doubles titles and has now been added to the Fed Cup team - Great stuff Liv keep the European Summer results rolling & good luck to Australia in this years Fed Cup!
